What should I do if I knock out my tooth?

First, stay calm. Handle the tooth by the crown (chewing surface), not the root. If possible, gently rinse it with water and try to place it back in the socket. If not, store it in a container of milk or saline. Call us immediately; time is critical for saving the tooth.

I have a terrible toothache. What can I do before my appointment?

You can rinse your mouth with warm salt water to clean the area and use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help, but avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum, as it can burn the tissue.

My crown fell off. Can I glue it back on myself?

No. Using household glues can damage the tooth and crown. Bring the crown with you to your appointment. We can often re-cement it securely and safely.
