  • I had BriteSmile done. My husband had gone to Dr. Perle’s office for the same treatment; he’s gone a couple of time, so he actually referred me. I felt very confident they knew what they were doing. They were professional, the doctor was nice, and the woman who did it explained everything. It worked out very well. I would do it again.

  • My name is Aaron Bickel and they reattached a bridge that had fallen out. I found them to be knowledgeable about the procedure and he explained everything before he did it and did a good job and did what he needed to do. They got back to me very quickly which was good, it was at night on a Saturday. Everything went well. I would recommend them.

  • My name is Martin McManus. I am a patient of Dr. Perle’s; I have been for a year and a half. Dr. Perle is very efficient and his staff is very good and friendly. We had a midterm correction which Dr. Perle was very professional about. I am very happy with Invisalign and I am very happy with Dr. Perle. I would recommend him to anybody.

Teeth Straightening

At Cambridge Dental, one of the top dental issues we deal with is malocclusions, or misaligned teeth. However, we do offer solutions: traditional braces and Invisalign.

Teeth Straightening

There are several different types of misaligned teeth that the team at Cambridge Dental is familiar with. These include:

Crossbite

Crossbite is a fairly common condition in which some of the upper teeth overlap some of the lower teeth. There are two types of crossbite:

  • Posterior: the rear lower teeth fall over the rear top teeth
  • Anterior: the front lower teeth fall over the front top teeth

Overbite

An overbite is a condition in which the front teeth in the upper arch overlap the front teeth of the bottom arch. This is most commonly referred to as “bucktooth”.

Underbite

Underbite is the exact opposite of overbite. In this condition, the front teeth of the bottom arch overlap the front teeth of the upper arch.

Top 10 Causes of Misaligned Teeth

Research shows that there are 10 common causes of malocclusion, such as:

  • Genetics
  • Accidents/trauma
  • Finger/thumb sucking into late childhood
  • Prolonged pacifier use
  • Prolonged bottle use
  • Oral tumors
  • Premature loss of primary teeth
  • Unusual size/shape of teeth
  • Delayed eruption of permanent teeth
  • Gum disease

How Cambridge Dental Can Help

At Cambridge Dental, we can help with your misaligned teeth. Our most popular option is Invisalign, which was introduced to the market in the late 1990s. Invisalign is a series of clear aligners that are designed to gradually push your teeth into their appropriate position in your jaw. The aligners can be removed for eating and brushing/flossing your teeth but should be worn for at least 20 to 22 hours a day.

Treatment typically takes 12 to 18 months, with some patients seeing full results within 6. However, it is important to note that your treatment timeline does depend on your compliance with wearing the aligners.

For teens, we offer Invisalign Teen, which works the same way as the standard Invisalign. The primary difference is that the Teen version has small blue dots that fade over time, as long as the teen is wearing the aligners. This gives parents peace of mind that they are not wasting their money on straightening their teen’s teeth.

Dental Emergency

No matter how vigilant you are about practicing good oral hygiene habits, a dental emergency can happen at any time. The team at Cambridge Dental in Brick, NJ understands that it’s important to address these issues as soon as possible. If you do not, the problem could escalate and have a negative impact on your overall health. That is why we have an emergency dentist available 24/7 for your dental emergencies.

Some of the most common dental emergencies we have seen at Cambridge Dental include:

What to do when you have a dental emergency

When you have a dental emergency, it is important to seek treatment as soon as possible. Therefore, the first thing you should do is contact the office for emergency dental treatment. It is important to seek treatment as soon as possible. Depending on your dental emergency, the dentist will get the symptoms under control and then schedule you for further treatment, if necessary, such as root canal therapy or dental repair.

Below are a few tips for managing the situation until you can see the dentist.

Severe toothache

For severe toothache relief, the first thing you need to do is rinse with warm water. If you have food stuck in your teeth, use dental floss to get it out. For swollen jaw relief, use a cold compress and take OTC pain relievers to manage the pain.

Cracked tooth

In the case of a cracked tooth, you need to have it repaired as soon as possible. Try to save any pieces that break off and rinse your mouth with warm water. If you have any bleeding, place a piece of gauze on the site until it stops. Apply a cold compress to manage pain and swelling.

Knocked-out tooth

If you have a tooth that is knocked out, the first thing you should do is recover the tooth- but avoid touching the root. You can rinse it with water but do not scrub it. Try placing the tooth back in the socket. If not, place it in a small container of milk. We may be able to save the tooth if you get in the office within an hour.

Loose tooth

If you have a tooth that is loose or partially dislodged, you’ll want to control the pain and swelling. You can do this by applying a cold compress and taking an OTC pain reliever.

Dental abscess

An abscess is a serious infection that can damage the affected tissue and surrounding teeth. It typically occurs near the tooth root or between your teeth and gums. If not treated, it could spread to the rest of your body and could be life-threatening. If you have an abscess, rinse your mouth with a mild saltwater solution. This will relieve the pain and pull the pus toward the surface.

Lost/broken fillings

Sometimes, dental restorations may become loose or fall out. If this happens, it is important to seek repair of loose or lost fillings as soon as possible to prevent further decay. Place a piece of sugarless gum or use an OTC dental cement to fill in the hole that is left behind.

Oral soft tissue injury

In most cases, patients experience bleeding with oral soft tissue injuries. For sore gum relief and to stop the bleeding, rinse with a mild saltwater solution and use a piece of gauze to stop the bleeding. You may also want to use a cold compress to relieve pain and reduce swelling.

Seek Treatment Quickly

When you have a dental issue outside of office hours, it’s important to address it right away to prevent it from escalating. The team at Cambridge Dental in Brick, NJ is here for you 24/7 for all of your dental emergencies.
